Frequently Asked Questions About Hybrid and Electric Service
How Often Do I Need to Have my Hybrid or Electric Vehicle's Battery Charged?
How often you have your hybrid/EV battery charged all depends on which type of car you drive. Toyota plug-in electric vehicles (PHEVs) like the RAV4 Prime, are able to travel up to 42 miles before requiring a battery recharge. Battery-electric EV cars can often travel up to hundreds of miles to the charge since they often have longer-lasting power cells. Conventional hybrids, like the Prius hatchback, do not require a recharge at all as the engine works to charge the battery automatically as you drive through Midland, TX.
Is the Maintenance Schedule Different for a Hybrid or Electric Car?
In many years, yes, the maintenance schedule for a hybrid or EV can be different. Battery-operated vehicles do not have as many components as hybrid or internal-combustion vehicles, so some of their parts may come due for service later than usual. Many hybrids and EVs have features like regenerative braking, which allows for these components to last for much longer than those of normal, gas-powered vehicles.
How Often Does an Oil Change in a Hybrid or EV work?
Since hybrid cars still use a gas-powered engine, they require the lubrication from oil. Thus, these vehicles should have their oil/filter changed every 5,000 miles or so to ensure the vehicle's proper health. However, EVs do not require oil changes, making routine auto service to these vehicles easier and more affordable.
Is there a Warranty that comes with my New Toyota Hybrid/Electric Car/SUV?
Yes, every Toyota hybrid/PHEV comes backed by a Hybrid Battery Warranty, which lasts for 120 months/150,000 miles. There is also a warranty for the hybrid system as a while, which lasts for 96 months/100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
